Official IRCC Requirements & Verification Guidance

Under the Citizenship Act, adult applicants must be physically present in Canada for at least 1,095 days (3 years) during the 5 years immediately before the date of application. Furthermore, at least 730 days of physical presence must have occurred as a Permanent Resident.

Temporary resident or protected person days before becoming a PR receive 0.5 day credit per actual day, up to a statutory maximum of 365 days credit (730 actual calendar days).
